The 2018 CARSP Conference was a big success!\u00a0 Two hundred and seventy-one people attended!\u00a0 Thank-you to all delegates, sponsors, exhibitors, invited speakers and volunteers who attended and made this year’s conference such a success!<\/p>\n

The papers and slidedecks associated with the conference are now posted. You can access them here<\/a>.\u00a0 Furthermore, most of the videos of the invited speakers and panelists have been posted to the members’ area.\u00a0 If you are not a CARSP member, but attended the 2018 CARSP Conference, you should have received an email explaining how you can access temporary membership privileges.\u00a0 If you did not receive this email, please contact info@carsp.ca<\/a>, and we will set you up!<\/p>\n

CARSP partnered with RoadSafetyBC to bring you the 2018 CARSP Conference!\u00a0 The CARSP conference is primarily aimed at sharing knowledge among Canada\u2019s road safety professionals with the goal of making our roads safer.\u00a0 Conference delegates represent a broad array of disciplines including: health professionals, engineers, Government officials, crash re-constructionists, insurers, researchers, enforcement, and more.<\/p>\n

The theme of this year\u2019s Conference is \u201cNext-generation Transportation \u2013 the Future of Road Safety\u201d was chosen to emphasize that a holistic, next-generation perspective on road safety is needed to make stronger progress in reducing motor vehicle crash-related deaths. This perspective requires that road safety professionals consider the interactive nature of all dimensions of the road system, including road user behaviour, urban and infrastructure design and planning, vehicle safety technology, and enforcement technology. Next-generation transportation also promotes other goals such as improved population health, greater social inclusion, environmental protection, and economic efficiency. Vision Zero, the Safe Systems Approach and progress with autonomous vehicles are examples of the types of progressive approaches which fit the idea of next-generation transportation. The hope is that centering the conference on this theme can help kindle new ideas, and allow all conference participants to explore road safety through fresh and ambitious perspectives.<\/p>\n

To explore the conference theme, plenary and panel sessions will focus on key issues. Furthermore, in this year\u2019s Call for Abstracts, authors will be asked to relate their abstract to the conference theme.\u00a0While the theme helps guide the focus of some components of the conference, there are still many presentations on a number of road safety topics, including, but not limited to:<\/p>\n
