That is why the Ministry of Transportation-Ontario introduced a new amber-red lighting standard for school buses. Starting July 1, 2022, Ontario will require all school buses manufactured after January 1, 2005, to use an Eight Lamp Amber-Red Warning System to signal when the school bus is slowing (alternating upper amber lights) and stopping (alternating upper red lights) to pick-up or drop-off passengers.<\/p>\n<p>Attached are two new resources to share information and to educate on the changes.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Info card (<a href=\"https:\/\/carsp.ca\/carsp-acpser\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/InfoCard-updated-lighting-system-2022.pdf\">InfoCard updated lighting system 2022<\/a>) is ready for sharing, and<\/li>\n<li>electronic toolkit (<a href=\"https:\/\/carsp.ca\/carsp-acpser\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/School-Bus-Safety-2022.pdf\">School Bus Safety 2022<\/a>) contents are intended to be used or adapted to support your outreach needs.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>You can access the attached resources as well as the social media assets, in both French and English through our <a href=\"https:\/\/drive.google.com\/drive\/folders\/1lXqbL0_WZ3F4DnEXzz4m09SwOWsWVm5B?usp=sharing\">Public Outreach &amp; Education Google Drive<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>You can also share the MTO social posts on the new school bus lighting system via<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/ONtransport\/status\/1546887308825198592\">Twitter<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/fb.watch\/ep4OG2JK-t\/\">Facebook<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/posts\/ontario-ministry-of-transportation_school-bus-amber-warning-activity-6949791517410549761--Qb7?utm_source=linkedin_share&amp;utm_medium=member_desktop_web\">LinkedIn<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Ontario is committed to ensuring students can travel to and from school safely.
