Si les collisions ne sont pas mortelles, les victimes peuvent subir de graves blessures, parfois d\u00e9vastatrices, qui dureront toute leur vie.<\/p>\n<h2>Pr\u00e9valence :<\/h2>\n<p>En 2019, au Canada, selon la Base nationale de donn\u00e9es sur les collisions (BNDC), 28\u00a0% des d\u00e9c\u00e8s sur la route et 42\u00a0% des blessures graves sont survenus aux intersections.<\/p>\n<h2>Mesures pr\u00e9ventives :<\/h2>\n<p>Aux intersections \u00e9quip\u00e9es de feux de circulation, certaines des mesures de s\u00e9curit\u00e9 les plus efficaces consistent \u00e0 s\u00e9parer les usagers de la route dans le temps et dans l'espace. Parmi les exemples de s\u00e9paration des usagers de la route dans le temps on retrouve les phases de virage \u00e0 gauche prot\u00e9g\u00e9es, les intervalles pour les pi\u00e9tons et les phases de signalisation distinctes pour les d\u00e9placements des cyclistes et des pi\u00e9tons. Les exemples de s\u00e9paration des usagers de la route dans l'espace comprennent les passages pour pi\u00e9tons \u00e0 haute visibilit\u00e9, les passages d\u00e9sign\u00e9s pour cyclistes et les rayons de virage courts qui r\u00e9duisent la vitesse de virage et \u00e9largissent la zone pi\u00e9tonne, cr\u00e9ant ainsi un environnement plus s\u00fbr pour tous les usagers. Les carrefours giratoires r\u00e9duisent consid\u00e9rablement les collisions \u00e0 angle droit (impact lat\u00e9ral) et les collisions frontales (c.-\u00e0-d. lorsqu\u2019un v\u00e9hicule tourne \u00e0 gauche).
