  • Present the methodology and findings of Canada’s first High-Risk Network (HRN) analysis, a proactive, multi-factor risk-indexing tool.
  • Discuss how HRN outputs are driving prioritized actions within the plan with a focus on equity.
  • Exchange lessons learned and receive feedback from road-safety colleagues to refine Version 2 of the HRN.
  • Provide a transferable roadmap for other jurisdictions pursuing Vision Zero.

Nico Koening

Nico Koenig is the Transportation Safety Specialist for the City of Guelph in Ontario. He works at the intersection of equity, mobility, and place making. Nico holds a Master of Education in Adult Education and Community Development from University of Toronto and Master of Urban and Regional Planning from Queen’s University.

Reza Aminghafouri

Reza Aminghafouri

Reza Aminghafouri is a Transportation Engineering Data Analyst with the City of Guelph and a Ph.D. candidate in Transportation Engineering at the University of Waterloo. His work and research primarily focus on road safety projects, bridging the gap between practical applications and academic research. Reza’s expertise lies in leveraging various data analysis techniques, including statistical and machine learning models, to address complex transportation challenges. His dual role in municipal government and academia allows him to contribute to both immediate urban transportation needs and long-term advancements in research within the field.
