2024 CARSP/Parachute Canada Joint Conference
The 2024 CARSP Conference, hosted in partnership with Parachute Canada, exceeded all expectations! This year, we hit a record number of student attendees and presenters, with over 40 students and young professionals joining us, and nearly 30 of them presenting their work. Both of these are new records for our conference! We also set a new milestone by raising $1,500 for the YPC 50/50 raffle, and launched a new ‘YPC Mentorship Program'. During the conference, we hosted an enriching career panel that offered valuable insights into the road safety field. We extend our gratitude to our moderator (Robert Colonna) and all our panelists, including Craig Lyon (Traffic Injury Research Foundation), Alvin TSE (ISL Engineering), Sarah Richmond (Public Health Ontario), and Valerie Smith (Parachute Canada). We then headed to Three Brasseurs for the ‘Young Professionals & Young at Heart’ networking mixer. We had over 70 attendees gather for an evening of food, drinks, and good old-fashioned networking! This was another record-breaking event and regarded as a conference highlight! A huge shoutout to our sponsor, Western Ergonomics, for making these events possible!
2023 ITE Canada/CARSP Joint Conference
The 2023 ITE Canada/CARSP Joint Conference was memorable! The YPC was proud to attend the Student Leadership Summit, hosted by the University of Manitoba ITE Student Chapter. We also brought back the annual Student Paper & Poster Competition and Student Bursary Program.
2022 CARSP Conference
At the 2022 CARSP Conference, the YPC hosted the Student Paper & Poster Competition, the Young Professionals (and Young at heart) Networking Cocktail Hour, and for the first time, a Student Bursary Program. What a blast!
2021 Virtual Summer Social
The YPC hosted an afternoon of networking and discussion with valued current and prospective members. Attendees had the opportunity to hear about the upcoming YPC events, provide input on future YPC initiatives, and connect with fellow young Canadian road safety professionals.
2021 Conference - Students & Young Professionals’ Symposium
At the 2021 CARSP/PRI Joint Conference, the YPC hosted a symposium in partnership with Parachute and the Traffic Injury Research Foundation. The symposium offered an opportunity for students and young professionals with an interest in Vision Zero, road safety and/or health promotion to come together to explore the conference’s theme (Equitability: Road Safety for all through Vision Zero and Sustainable Safety). Three events were offered and included (i) a Career Panel, moderated by Robert Colonna, the Chair of the YPC, (ii) an interactive presentation entitled "Virtual Walkabout: Vision Zero in Montreal", and (iii) a Networking Event, which allowed students and young professionals to connect with representatives from a variety of Canadian and international road safety organizations. 2019 CARSP Conference - YPC Cocktail Hour
At the annual CARSP Conference, the YPC hosts a cocktail hour served with refreshments and appetizers. The event encourages young professionals to meet each other and those experienced in the field.
