Abstract
Attention is not a unitary system, but includes multiple separate, yet interacting systems that underlie functions related to alerting, orienting, and executive control. Building on a game-like task that enabled us to measure a spatial-compatibility effect (the Simon effect) during a simulated driving task we have developed the “AttentionTrip” which allows us to measure the components of attention while the participant performs a steering task. In this presentation we will demonstrate the AttentionTrip, illustrate how the components of attention can be measured using it, present some preliminary data and propose some experiments that can be conducted using the Attention Trip.
