Ottawa Safety Council – Call for Nominations for Board of Directors
The Ottawa Safety Council (OSC), a road safety focused charity, is seeking a Road Safety Expert to join its Board of Directors. We are opening nominations to build a Board that reflects the diverse perspectives of the community we serve, and we are especially interested in applicants from diverse backgrounds.
Who We're Looking For
We invite applicants who are:
- Age 18 or older, with a strong passion for community service.
- Experienced in Road Safety, Planning, and /or Government Relations.
- Located in Ontario (Ottawa and Toronto, preferred)
- Willing to volunteer their time and talent to share skills and expertise.
Previous Board experience is preferable.
Term & Time Commitment
This is a three (3) year term, with a time commitment of 5-10 hours per month, depending on activity levels.
- Meetings: The Board meets bi-monthly with no meetings in July, August, November, and March.
- Annual Retreat: A mandatory yearly retreat is held in May/June to facilitate team building and strategic planning.
All available positions are elected at the Annual General Meeting or through a Special Members’ Meeting
Application & Interview Process
To ensure a fair and comprehensive selection process, there will be an initial meeting with the Board Chair, and then the Nominations Committee.

As a Board Director, you will have opportunities for networking, learning, and contributing to improved road safety.
