Call for Nominations for Election to CARSP Board of Directors

Nominations Sought for CARSP Board Directors

The Canadian Association of Road Safety Professionals (CARSP) is seeking Directors for its Board. It is important to seek new Directors for the Board on a yearly basis to ensure fresh ideas are being considered in the management of CARSP. CARSP Board Directors have the option of completing two back-to-back three-year terms, however, they must also go through an election process.

Number of Board Directors Sought

There are a total of seven Board of Directors positions up for election/re-election. Six Board Directors’ terms are ending (out of the current nineteen elected Board of Directors) at this year’s Annual General Meeting in June. All six Board Directors are eligible to run for re-election. There is also one vacant Board Director position.

Nominations

Members of CARSP are encouraged to nominate either themselves or another CARSP member. CARSP aims to serve all road safety professionals across the country so nominees should be currently active in one or more areas of road safety (e.g., research, policy/legislation, enforcement, education, engineering, injury prevention, public health, etc.).

In addition, CARSP strives to have representation from all Canadian geographic areas. At present, members who are from Québec, the Atlantic Provinces and British Columbia are encouraged to apply.  We are also seeking candidates who work in Provincial Governments, including public insurers, and those who identify as non-binary. CARSP is also looking for members with a marketing background. While these groups are encouraged to apply, CARSP is also receiving nominations from members not in these categories.

Nomination forms can be found at CARSP BOD Nomination Form 2026. Complete the nomination form and submit the signed form to Dr. Brian Jonah, Vice President of CARSP (n.bjonah@gmail.com), by March 17th, 2026.

Elections

As permitted by the CARSP Bylaws, an e-mail ballot will be prepared and sent to CARSP members on Wednesday March 24, 2026, asking members to elect Board Directors. Members will be asked to indicate which five nominees they would like to see elected to the Board. The election period will end on Wednesday, April 7, 2026. The five nominees who receive the most votes will fill the current Board Director positions.

Announcement of Election Outcome

Returning and newly elected Board Directors will be announced to the CARSP membership at the CARSP Annual General Meeting at the CARSP/ACIP Conference on Monday June 15, 2026, at the Westin Nova Scotian Hotel, Halifax. An email announcement will also be sent to the CARSP membership shortly following this meeting.
