CARSP SNN Partner Highlights – Parachute

Youth ambassadors

The Parachute Youth Ambassador Program launched in October 2024 as part of Canadian Youth Road Safety Week and empowers young leaders to make a difference in their communities by addressing local road safety issues. Eighteen Youth Ambassador teams have been selected to receive a $600 grant to develop a local road safety project, which tackles real-world challenges, ranging from pedestrian safety and active transportation to equitable road design and impaired driving prevention. Each Ambassador team is collaborating with a local organization to implement their project activities, aiming to present a proposal to community leaders—such as municipal officials, law enforcement, or school administrators—to advocate for meaningful change.

This year, we’ve seen incredible ideas emerge. From reducing risks at busy intersections to promoting safer biking and driving habits, the projects reflect a shared commitment to fostering a culture of safety and responsibility on our roads. Innovative approaches like “positive ticketing” reward safe driving habits, while educational outreach efforts use storytelling and interactive sessions to engage younger audiences. Whether it’s through digital campaigns, school-based activities, or community events, these ambassadors are leading by example and inspiring local change across Canada.

The diversity of these projects reflects the creativity and dedication of our youth ambassadors, who are working to bring Vision Zero principles to life in their communities.  Learn more about their impactful work on our website.
