ITE Canada Update
ITE International and ITE Canada District continue to prioritize and highlight road safety in our initiatives.
We were proud to host 500 delegates, speakers, exhibitors, sponsors, and volunteers in Halifax, Nova Scotia at the ITE Canada 2025 Annual Conference on June 1-4, 2025. Several road-safety related sessions and presentations were offered. We invite you to read our event recap, browse the photo album, or check out the program.
Save the date for our next Annual Conference happening May 31 to June 3, 2026 in beautiful Victoria, British Columbia. We look forward to welcoming transportation professionals from across the country to Vancouver Island for professional development and networking around the theme Creating Connections Through Transportation. Keep an eye out for news via our social media and website at itecanada.org/conference.
We also invite you to mark your calendar for Thursday, September 25 when ITE Canada and CARSP will team up for another joint webinar on Design Guidance for Bus Stops Adjacent to Cycling Infrastructure. This will be a follow up to the sold out 2024 webinar on the same topic.
ITE Canada’s Training Committee is pleased to host a final offering of the Transportation and Affordability: Planning Complete Networks to Reduce Auto-Dependence professional development course. Understand the role you can play in addressing the housing and transportation affordability crisis, what “car-lite” communities look like, and how to design and implement complete networks for new and intensifying communities. Register for the September 18 virtual workshop here and preview the topic and themes covered in this article.
As always, we encourage you to check out the wide array of professional development resources from ITE including:
- Many informational reports, quick bites, and other frequently released resources at org/technical-resources/resources such as the Evaluating the Impacts of the Safe System Approach on Safety and Operations paper released in March 2025.
- ITE Learning Hub - on-demand courses and webinars, free for ITE members. There are often safety-related offerings such as a recent webinar on Road Traffic Injuries and Deaths - A Global Problem.
- ingITE is a non-technical career skills training program aimed at delivering management topics tailored specifically for transportation professionals. A new module on Effective Meetings is available, free for ITE members and available for non-members at a fee.
ITE Canada continues to invite CARSP members to take advantage of the Road Safety for Canadian Practitioners Online Training Program, which we jointly offer with TAC. This on-demand, self-directed program includes five modules that can be purchased as a discounted bundle or separately.
Finally, we invite you to check out an ITE Section event in your region to connect with local transportation professionals. Find ITE near you at itecanada.org/sections. Keep up with ITE Canada's latest news, including conference news, professional development opportunities, and more at itecanada.org and @itecanada on social media.
