ITE Canada Updates for CARSP Safety Network Newsletter
January 2026
Happy New Year! ITE Canada District is pleased to invite the CARSP community to connect with us in 2026 at in-person events, virtual offerings, resources from ITE International, and through local gatherings at the ITE Section level.
The first of ITE Canada’s training programs for 2026 has been launched: Geometric Design: Fundamentals & Emerging Practices in Urban Street Design. This interactive half-day workshop introduces the fundamentals and emerging practices of urban street design, emphasizing safety, mobility, and livability for all users. Emerging topics such as low-speed streets, self-enforcing streets, multimodal roundabouts, and protected intersections for urban contexts will be integrated throughout the curriculum. Discounted rates are available for ITE members, young members, students, and groups purchasing 3+ registrations. A Professional Development Hours/Credits certificate will be provided to all registrants. Learn more and register for the Wednesday, February 25 workshop here.
Nominations are open for the ITE Canada District 2026 Excellence in Transportation Awards. New this year, we are introducing several professional development and travel bursaries alongside the Future Transportation Leaders Fund. See all available opportunities and nominate yourself, your project, or a deserving colleague or student here.
Join us for ITE Canada District’s 2026 Annual Conference in Victoria, British Columbia this coming Sunday, May 31 to Wednesday, June 3. The conference theme — Creating Connections Through Transportation — will explore how transportation can serve as a powerful connector of places, people and communities. We had a record number of 260+ abstracts submitted and the technical program will include a wide range of safety-related topics including Vision Zero, school safety, human-centred design in road safety, automated speed enforcement (ASE), inclusive and accessible design, public engagement, and data-driven decision making. This is in addition to many technical tours, social events, connections to sponsors and exhibitors, and all of the networking opportunities our delegates love. Find everything you need to know about #ITECanada2026 at conference.itecanada.org.
