ITE News Spring 2024
The ITE Canada and CARSP partnership enters a new stage as we find ways to bring knowledge to each other’s communities. ITE Canada will provide CARSP with the opportunity to jointly develop a panel discussion session at ITE Canada’s 2024 Annual Conference in Hamilton, Ontario on June 9-12. This session, featuring CARSP President Valerie Smith, will be part of the technical program which includes presentations, interactive workshops, panels, and other innovative format sessions—many focused on or related to road safety. Other conference highlights: ten technical tours and many social events including a banquet at the beautifully restored LIUNA CN rail station, student mixer and welcome receptions, and a Play Street. Make your plans to join us in Hamilton before the May 24 late registration deadline! Find all the details at conference.itecanada.org.

These courses are in addition to the on-demand online training program for road safety professionals we are offering in partnership with TAC: Road Safety for Canadian Practitioners.
Our parent organization, ITE International, offers a wide array of road safety-related resources. Newer resources include Modern Roundabouts, from Design to Safety Evaluation (by the ITE Transportation Safety Council, January 2024) and Case Studies of Equity in Transportation Practices (ITE Equity Committee, October 2023), among many other informational reports and technical briefs frequently released. The ITE Talks Transportation podcast also regularly releases new episodes; the newest may be of particular interest to CARSP members—an interview with Rachel Carpenter, Chief Safety Officer, Caltrans on An Innovative Approach to Safety.
We’d also like to remind you of the Road Safety Professional (RSP) Certification offered by the Transportation Professional Certification Board (TPCB). You can read more about the certification here (PDF) and see the latest requirements and exam times at www.tpcb.org.
Finally, we invite you to check out an ITE Section event in your region to connect with local transportation professionals. Find ITE near you at itecanada.org/sections.
