ITE Canada Update – January 2024
ITE Canada and CARSP continue to serve our joint memberships through initiatives identified in our partnership agreement.
In December 2023, we hosted our second joint webinar (organized by CARSP) on CapaCITY/É, a six-year research program working with municipal staff and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) across Canada and Australia to understand factors related to the scaling up and scaling out of sustainable transportation projects across different city contexts. This webinar presented an overview of the program and then focused on a novel implementation science framework to support cities’ decision-making on how best to implement sustainable transportation interventions in their local context.
We invite you to save the date for ITE Canada’s 2024 Annual Conference happening in Hamilton, Ontario next June 9-12 with the theme Disruptive Progress: The Path to Safer, Cleaner and More Equitable Transportation.
The Call for Abstracts was a resounding success with over 160 submissions, a sign of an excellent technical program to come! There will be several sessions dedicated to road safety and many more presentations that are safety-related in other sessions. Watch for the program to be released and registration to open in early 2024!
We also invite you to check out the many opportunities to highlight your company through sponsorship or exhibition. Find everything you need to know about ITE Canada 2024 at conference.itecanada.org.
ITE Canada is also proud to present additional sessions this winter and spring of our training workshops that both sold out in 2023:
- Removing Barriers: A Workshop on Achieving Accessibility in Transportation Systems
- Multimodal Traffic Signal Operations
Both of these virtual workshops received rave reviews after their first sessions. These courses are in addition to the on-demand online training program for road safety professionals we are offering in partnership with TAC: Road Safety for Canadian Practitioners. You can learn more about all of these training opportunities and register at itecanada.org/training.
Our parent organization, ITE International, has released a new webpage to showcase new informational reports, technical briefs, and other resources for transportation professionals, many of which are related to road safety. We encourage you to explore this rich resource for road safety and transportation practitioners at ite.org/technical-resources/resources. ITE publications are available to all and offered at a discounted rate for ITE members.
Finally, we invite you to get involved with an ITE Section in your region to connect with local transportation professionals. Find ITE near you at itecanada.org/sections. Keep up to date with ITE Canada's latest news, including conference news, professional development opportunities, and more at itecanada.org and @itecanada on social media.
