New MTO resources: School Bus Safety
Ontario is committed to ensuring students can travel to and from school safely. That is why the Ministry of Transportation-Ontario introduced a new amber-red lighting standard for school buses. Starting July 1, 2022, Ontario will require all school buses manufactured after January 1, 2005, to use an Eight Lamp Amber-Red Warning System to signal when the school bus is slowing (alternating upper amber lights) and stopping (alternating upper red lights) to pick-up or drop-off passengers.
Attached are two new resources to share information and to educate on the changes.
- Info card (InfoCard updated lighting system 2022) is ready for sharing, and
- electronic toolkit (School Bus Safety 2022) contents are intended to be used or adapted to support your outreach needs.
You can access the attached resources as well as the social media assets, in both French and English through our Public Outreach & Education Google Drive.
