News – CARSP Events

1. CARSP/ICTCT Conference 2025

CARSP, ICTCT, and Parachute jointly hosted the highly successful CARSP/ICTCT 2025 Conference from May 20–23 in Quebec City, Quebec. Themed “Innovative Interventions and Technologies for Safer Roads: A Global Perspective”, the event welcomed over 230 delegates from Canada and around the world, offering a rich platform for learning, networking, and collaboration.

A defining feature of this year’s conference was that it was fully bilingual, with all sessions, materials, and presentations offered in both English and French. This commitment to accessibility and inclusivity ensured meaningful engagement for participants from across the country and beyond and truly reflected the spirit of national and international cooperation.

The program featured two outstanding keynote speakers: Lars Ekman, who discussed The Role of New Technology in Implementing Vision Zero, and Ian Lockwood, who delivered Safety: It Takes a Village. The conference also included four thought-provoking panel discussions: i) Speed Management and the 5 Es, ii) Bigger Vehicles, Bigger Risks, iii) Micromobility and Road Safety: Navigating the Future of Urban Transportation, and iv) Advancing Road Safety Through Data Analytics

The add-on activities: namely the pre-conference workshop, Collaborative Fatal Collision Investigations, the Vision Zero walkshop, the bike tours, and City of Quebec Traffic Management Centre tours enriched the overall experience.

The event concluded with a festive Awards Banquet that recognized excellence in road safety. Awards included six student winners: in the poster competition, first place went to Ella Sherafat, second to Tanner Van Every, and third to Cameron Mohammadi; and in the paper competition, first place was awarded to Jerome Range, second to Émilie Bouchard, and third to Wendy Ding. Additional honors included the Mavis Johnson Traffic Safety Award presented to Camille Savoie, the Dr. Charles H. Miller Award awarded to Hillary Maxwell, and three Lifetime Achievement Awards granted to Michel Bédard, Paul Mackey, and Lynn Vézina.

This truly bilingual and globally engaged conference set a new benchmark for collaboration in road safety.
